A Fusion of Love & Flavour

Welcome to Manicke x Kai, an authentic Sri Lankan restaurant located in vibrant seaside city of Brighton. We are proud to bring rich culinary traditions of Sri Lanka to your table, serving traditional Sri Lankan dishes. Sri Lankan cuisine is known around the world for its bold flavours, aromatic spices and vibrant street food culture. At Manicke x Kai we prepare our food using home roasted curry powder, a unique blend of authentic Sri Lankan spices such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon and curry leaves and pandan leaves.

Manicke

Manicke is a Sri Lankan word meaning “Gem” but that is not the only reason we chose it. It is also the loving nickname of our second child, so Manicke is very close to our hearts.

The secret of our flavours is a unique blend of home roasted and ground spices, years of cooking experience, and love for food — specially Sri Lankan — feeding as well as eating!

Kai

From lush spice gardens of Sri Lanka, world renowned for its cinnamon, tea and rare spices. Kai was born to celebrate authentic Sri Lankan flavours with refinement and soul.

What began as a dream while we were expecting our son Kai, became a beautiful reality on his first birthday. His name lives in our café — a symbol of love, family and new beginnings.

In partnership with the founder of Manicke, we bring timeless Sri Lankan cuisine to your table, crafted with tradition, elegance and heart!

Manicke X Kai is not just a café and a restaurant — it is heritage, passion and a story served daily!
