Welcome to ManickexKai, an authentic Sri Lankan restaurant located in the vibrant seaside city of Brighton. We are proud to bring the rich culinary traditions of Sri Lanka to the UK, serving a unique blend of traditional Sri Lankan dishes and popular English favourites.

Sri Lankan cuisine is known around the world for its bold flavours, aromatic spices, and vibrant street food culture. At ManickexKai, we prepare our food using authentic Sri Lankan spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, curry leaves, and roasted curry powder, creating dishes full of depth and character. Our menu features well-known Sri Lankan favourites including Kottu, devilled chicken, flavourful rice dishes, and signature house specials inspired by traditional Sri Lankan home cooking.

Manicke

Manicke is a Sri Lankan word meaning “Gem” but that is not the only reason we chose it. It is also the loving nickname of our second child, so Manicke is very close to our hearts.

The secret of our flavours is a unique blend of home roasted and ground spices, years of cooking experience, and love for food — specially Sri Lankan — feeding as well as eating!

From lush spice gardens of Sri Lanka, world renowned for its cinnamon, tea and rare spices. Kai was born to celebrate authentic Sri Lankan flavours with refinement and soul.

What began as a dream while we were expecting our son Kai, became a beautiful reality on his first birthday. His name lives in our café — a symbol of love, family and new beginnings.

In partnership with the founder of Manicke, we bring timeless Sri Lankan cuisine to your table, crafted with tradition, elegance and heart!
